There is a pressure on Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi to contest from Siricilla in Karimnagar district in the next elections.

A large number of fans from the area took out a rally from Siricilla to Hyderabad and would submit a memorandum to Chiranjeevi asking him contest from that constituency. Since Chiranjeevi has made a mark on the constituency by taking up the cause of weavers, people want him to be their representative, they say. There is a similar thinking within the PRP, too. His advisors have suggested him to contest from all the three regions in the State and in Telangana, he could choose Siricilla,which is a safer constituency for PRP.

But, Chiranjeevi has already promised that he would field a weaver from Siricilla. Will he break the promise? Anything is possible in politics!

The inordinate delay on the part of megastar Chiranjeevi in launching his political party is causing frustration, not among his fans and political leaders who want to join him, but among mediapersons. So much so that they have started spinning jokes on Chiru’s indecisive nature. A Telugu TV channel has telecast a satire, in which Chiru gives a call to all the youngsters to come out and fight against corruption and other evils in the society. The satire ends up in saying that the youngsters might turn old, if Chiru continues to delay his political plans. Another joke is doing rounds in the journalists’ circle: Chiranjeevi went to his native village the other day and thanked his mother for giving birth to him on August 22. And that has come in handy for him to delay the launch of his party till August 22. Had his birthday been in June or July, Chiru would have to hurry up things, which he doesn’t want. Will he pick up courage at least in August?

Hyderabad: The Telugu film industry or Tollywood as it's popularly called is synonymous with stars like Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh and Tabu. It's an industry that's considered a trendsetter in the South - experimental with themes yet largely trapped within the star syndrome.

Pavan Kalyan motivating youth at district levels

Power Star Pavan Kalyan is trying to show his power as well in motivating youth for the proposed upcoming Megastar political party and give way for youth to take a seat in the party and become driving force. Pavan is organizing meetings with youth at district level with the help of same members who participated in Dr. Mitra's SPARC meetings. He as well met 18 young political aspirants on Tuesday who hail from Khammam. This meeting was organized at a building close to Geetha Arts office. Pavan as well met people from four different districts so far. Nagababu clarifies on his statements

Chiranjeevi brother Nagababu recently was in Prakasham district and participated in a program, later he spoke to media and stated that our people are habituated to divide and rule policy of Britishers but staying united is always better. Devender Goud likely to enter into Chiru train

Rumors in political circles are spreading wild that Telugu Desam leader T Devender Goud on the Telengana issue. Mr Goud was isolated in the five-member committee meeting on the Telangana issue, which was held in Vizianagaram district on Wednesday. However, Desam spokesman and Rajya Sabha member Mr M.V. Mysoora Reddy, refuted the charges that Mr Goud was singled out in the five-member committee meeting. Grapevine has it that Mr Goud plans to join hands with megastar Chiranjeevi. However, he said this may happen if the Desam chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, does not spell out a clear-cut decision on the state’s bifurcation and the megastar Chiranjeevi takes pro- Telangana stand. For the time being, Mr Goud will put pressure on Mr Naidu. Mr Goud who was reportedly annoyed with the Desam T-committee deliberations, kept himself away from media glare on Thursday. He did not even visit the NTR Bhavan. Senior leaders, Mr Ch. Rajeswara Rao and Mr E. Peddi Reddy, called on Mr Goud at his residence. Sources said Mr Goud also expressed his displeasure over the Desam chief's time-buying attitude. Mr Goud reportedly told his colleagues that the Desam should take a pro-Telangana stance, before Chiranjeevi launches his party. If TD does not take a stand now it will affect the party’s prospects in Telangana, Mr Goud felt. Interestingly, after meeting Mr Goud, Mr Rajeswara Rao raised his voice over the Telangana issue. He said, “Separation is inevitable. I believe in an integrated state, but considering the aspirations of the people of Telangana, I support separate statehood. Telugu Desam has to take this line. There is no other alternative.” He said he had mentioned the reasons for a separate Telangana state in his report, which was submitted to the Desam chief by Mr Devender.

Chiranjeevi can’t be a challenge

NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has made it clear that the party to be launched by Telugu film star Chiranjeevi would not pose any challenge to the Congress in the forthcoming Assembly elections in the State.

“We are unfazed by any such threats and irrespective of whether he launches the party or not there would be someone with whom the Congress has to fight. We will do so and win in not less than 230 seats in the Assembly and 36 seats in the Lok Sabha,” the Chief Minister told mediapersons here on Thursday.

To a question, he said the party would opt for holding the Assembly polls, which is originally due in May 2009, in February or March by advancing it by a few months, if the Lok Sabha polls were held then. If the latter elections were advanced to November or December this year, “I don’t think we need to advance the Assembly polls too”.

However, he agreed that the Election Commission had the discretion of deciding the poll date if there was less than six months for the completion of the Assembly term.

Defending champions

He said since 2004, the ruling Congress had been winning polls held for municipalities, panchayats, cooperative bodies, water users associations and byelections in the Telengana region despite challenges of various parties. “We will repeat the performance as we are the defending champions in Andhra Pradesh,” he claimed.

Special Correspondent from Hyderabad adds: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas too said that the proposed entry of Chiranjeevi into politics would not have any impact on the party.

Stating that the political scenario had changed a lot since the day N. T. Rama Rao floated the Telugu Desam Party and rode to power within nine months, Mr. Srinivas said, at that time there was a politicial vacuum and no alternative to Congress. “TDP took that place and the general resentment against the Congress worked in its favour,” he observed.

At a press conference, he recalled how not all film stars had succeeded in politics. “Not everyone can become NTR or MGR,” he said and referred to the fate of another star Sivaji Ganesan, who failed to click in politics.

“There was a lot of pressure on another actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao to join politics, but he preferred to stay away,” the APCC president added.

On Chief Minister’s remark that Congress will go it alone in the next elections, Mr. Srinivas said there was nothing wrong in it. “Fighting elections on our own is not new. But that does not mean that our doors are closed to other parties. We would like our old friends to be with us,” he noted.

In-house meet of Chiru fans

An in-house meet with representatives of megastar Chiranjeevi's statewide fans associations is going to be held this evening (May 24th) at RNR auditorium, Hyderabad. Allu Arvind and Nagababu are likely to address the sessions with participation of about three thousand select delegates. This development assumed significance in the wake of Chiru's proposed political entry.

It was 28 years back, when the couple tied the knot today at the Rajeswari Marriage Hall in Chennai.

Though it was late Allu Ramalingaiah’s wife who spotted her potential son-in-law, her husband was not very keen initially to get his daughter married to an aspiring actor.

But late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao convinced him that it would be a good match and the engagement ceremony too was carried out in his presence.

'Adhinayakudu' script getting ready

After the release of 'Shankar Dada Zindabad', Mega Star Chiranjeevi took a long gap for his next film. Several reasons, including problems with in the family, launch of Ram Charan Teja as hero and rumours about floating a new political party — had their impact on the next film by Chiranjeevi. But somehow there was a lot of delay in his next film. At present the Mega Star had completed 148 films and this would be the 149th film. Hence the responsibility of scripting a good story for the film was handed over to Paruchuri Brothers.In view of the political aspirations of Chiranjeevi, the writers duo prepared four different scripts and one among them was okayed by the former.'Adhinayakudu' was confirmed as the working title of the movie. Presently, Paruchuri brothers are busy in giving final touches for the script and they reportedly left to Bangkok for details.

Though the names of VV Vinayak, Krishnavamsi and Gunasekhar came up for consideration to direct the 149th movie, the opportunity landed in the lap of N Shankar, who had directed films like 'Encounter, Sriramulaiah and Jayam Manadera'.

Director N Shankar also accompanied the Paruchuri Brothers for first hand information on the script. The shooting of the film is likely to begin during May and would be completed by December.

The film is most likely to be released before the forthcoming general elections. Aswinidutt, Allu Aravind, K Raghavendra Rao are jointly producing the movie.

Chiru's future plans

There are no doubts in any one's mind about the future plans of megastar Chiranjeevi. The entry of chiru into politics is now just a mere formability.

He is likely to make an announcement about his political entry and also the launch of his political party after the results to the by polls are announced.

Sources close to Chiranjeevi also do not rule out the possibility of Chiranjeevi doing a quick film before the nest assembly elections.
An announcement about his 'political film' is likely to be made on his birthday on 'August 22'.

Chiru is now doing a lot of background research on issues like separate Telangana, naxalism, terrorism and corruption in politics, and reservations etc.

Chiranjeevi has also started the process of appointing village level part in charges across the state.

According to the usually reliable inside sources, it is learnt that some ex-IAS and IPS officers have extended their support to the proposed political party which Chiranjeevi may float.

It is also learnt that a couple of them are now parked in the Medchal farm house and drafting the constitution of the party.They are also advising Chiranjeevi on the road map he should follow in successfully going into the arena of active politics. Many of the IAS, IPS and other state government officers, now in service, are understood to have surreptitiously extending their support the film star.

Chiranjeevi’s 149th film

Chiranjeevi has indeed taken a long break after the release of Shankar Dada Zindabad for his next film. Several reasons, including personal problems, Ram Charan Teja’s launch as hero and rumours about his political ambitions have contributed to the long delay.
With 148 films under his belt, Adhinayakudu (the working title of the movie) would be his 149th film. So the responsibility of scripting a good story for the film was handed over to Paruchuri Brothers. Keeping in mind Chiranjeevi’s political aspirations, the duo prepared four different scripts and one of them was approved by Chiranjeevi.

Paruchuri brothers reportedly left for Bangkok accompanied by director N. Shankar to give final touches to the script.
Though V.V. Vinayak, Krishnavamsi and Gunasekhar were all considered to direct Chirajeevi’s 149th movie, the opportunity landed in N. Shankar’s eager hands. He has directed films like Encounter, SriramulaiahJayam Manadera. Shooting of the film is likely to begin during May and is planned to be completed by December before the forthcoming general elections. and Aswini Dutt, Allu Aravind and K. Raghavendra Rao are jointly producing the movie.

The idea of establishing The Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation, had taken roots many years ago, when one fine day Chiranjeevi, the popular film star from Andhra pradesh, reflected on the fame and glory that the Telugu audiences across AP bestowed upon him.

Chiranjeevi was keen to repay the society for the unlimited love and affection being showered on him by the millions of people across A.P .He felt that the energy and enthusiasm of those millions had to be channelized into something more meaningful for the welfare of the society.

Chiranjeevi sought expert study to identify areas where extensive public participation can help build a healthy society.

There were thousands of poor and needy people who were suffering because of inadequate infrastructure that facilitated safe and screened blood supply. While thousands were suffering on account of being visually impaired. The study also revealed that there were many misconceptions and pre conceived notions about blood and eye donations. The experts opined that a person of Chiranjeevi's stature and caliber can bring about a significant change in the situation for the better, by his active participation.

Thus 'The Chiranjeevi Blood Bank' was started in the month of October 1998 with an aim to provide safe and screened blood, free of cost to the poor and needy.
